What is a Life Book?
A Life Book is for you to put all of your important information together, so that in the event that you pass away, or even become incapacitated, your loved ones will be able to find the information/documentation easily.
The pages of the book cover everything from important contacts, to list of documents, financial information/passwords, mortgage, income/investments, and funeral planning!
Why do a Life Book?
When these things are intentionally planned out in advance, you will alleviate huge amounts of stress for the people you love. It improves communication, confidence, and eliminates potential sources of conflict between your family members when youโre gone.
Who should fill in a Life Book?
All adults! This is not just for the seniors or elderly. If you want to have a say in what happens if you become incapacitated or pass away, then you will want to have your desires written out.
Can my spouse and I share a Life Book?
It is best to each fill in your own pages. They may be kept together with your spouse's pages, and some of the information will be the same, but it is best to each have filled in the Life Book pages.
What supplies do I need?
It is recommended to hole-punch the pages and put them in a binder. You may also wish to use to some page protectors as pockets for documents that are small or that you do not want to hole-punch.
What do I do with it once it is filled in?
Store your Life Book in a secure space in your home and let a loved one know where it is being stored.
What happens if my information changes?
You will need to keep your Life Book updated. There may be changes to your family, address, banking, will, or even your preferences for your funeral. Any major change should be updated in your Life Book.
